singer-songwriter

As a singer-songwriter I strive to present a delivery that is honest and thought provoking and I like to think that my catalog feels intuitive and provides a sense of comfort. I sit somewhere in the middle of classic folk, hip hop and soul with compositions mainly on acoustic guitar and ukulele. My attention and focus is mostly dedicated to lyric and melody and how they play off each other in a way that fosters feelings of memory, connection and ease.

Wow. When I finally decided to learn one of our Driftr songs on acoustic guitar I realized it reminded me of a song i knew from back in the day. So here's the Driftr tune "Emi Retibo" mashed up with Alice In Chains' "Nutshell"

EMPTY VESSELS

My newest acoustic project is one very close to my heart. When working through lyrics and melodies on acoustic guitar or ukulele I have a tendency toward songs of comfort and simplicity and Wayward Seed is a deeper exploration of that. I've had most of these songs in my pocket for some time, but it wasn't until I met Kat Factor and began singing and composing with her that I felt this grouping of songs had found their counterpart. We're both so excited to share this project with you, so we've decided to post these three rough draft voice notes while we make time to get into the studio for the final compositions. We expect to release this project in the near future. We hope you enjoy!

the hideout ep

Recorded in 2013 with the financial support of a successful crowdfunding campaign, I released The Hideout EP under the name bcap. This album brings the listener through quite a scope of my musical influences while maintaining a common thread throughout. From folk to singer-songwriter to my own blend of acoustic hip hop. Track 4, What They Want, stands out as a prime representation of my love for manipulating the English language. And track 6, Your Mama & Me, amble's the listener through a simple heartfelt story of father, mother and child. Also accompanying the EP is a behind the scenes documentary of the the process.

MC / Rapper

Sometime in my early twenties, I was steered toward the ever creative and groundbreaking world of hip hop by what would become a very dear friend and music partner. The level of consciousness displayed by the artists I was introduced to seemed so succinctly in line with the effect I intended to have with my own outward expression - music and lyrical content with a deep seeded message - one of hope, connection, responsibility and compassion.  This message remains and can be experienced viscerally through the hooks and verses of my hip hop compositions.

driftr

In 2015 when I auspiciously crossed paths and began creating with Jamie Schnetzler, we launched the driftr project, which is just now coming into it's maturity and seeing the release of songs as they are completed. As a duo, we’ve received some attention in our now hometown of Santa Cruz, California and driftr has begun to make their name and music known to farther reaching locales throughout the state, performing at a number of music festivals during the 2018 season while looking forward to many more releases and tours to come.
